Camera Director

My own Cinema 4D plugin for directing cameras: drone flights from waypoints, one-click shape paths, dolly zoom, live cuts and a gamepad flight mode.

Camera Director is a palette I built for Cinema 4D 2026 because the camera work I wanted — FPV drone flights, swoops, orbits, crane reveals — took too many keyframes to get right and even more to change. The reel above runs eleven shots in one low-poly village, every one of them made by pressing the plugin’s own buttons and rendered in Octane.

What it does

Drone flights come from waypoints: frame the view, press Add Shot, repeat, then Build Drone Flight — nine waypoints become a flight in two clicks, the camera hits every one of them exactly and cruises at constant speed. The path stays live: move a waypoint and the whole flight updates. Beside that there are eight one-click shape paths (orbit, swoop fly-by, dronie, helix up, top-down rise and more), classic moves like dolly in and crane up, a dolly-zoom builder, marker-driven live camera cuts, snap-to-path chase cams, a handheld tool, a gamepad flight mode and baking everything down to plain keys.

How the drone shot was built

Left, the Cinema 4D viewport with the drone flying its waypoint path through the village; right, the Octane render from the same camera, in sync.

The eleven shots

Drone FPV flight to the lighthouse · four-camera live switch · over-the-shoulder dialogue · dolly zoom · 360° orbit · swoop fly-by · dronie · helix up the lighthouse · crane reveal · top-down rise · path chase cam. Every shot was checked against the geometry with the plugin’s clearance tool before rendering.
