A spec commercial for the Xbox controller. Thousands of green-lit cubes drift in a black studio, spiral in toward a silhouette and lock together into the controller — grips and button cluster first, then the full form — before one unbroken camera orbits the finished piece and settles on a hero front view.
One camera, no cuts
The edit started as seven camera switches; the final version replaces them with a single continuous move. Position, aim, focal length, aperture and focus distance run on matching-velocity curves through every former cut point, with speed ramps that take the orbit from about 9° per second to 150° per second and back down for the final hold.
Assembly and look
The cube assembly is driven by editable shape keys rather than a cached simulation, so timing could be adjusted shot by shot. The controller is the original textured model — 538k polygons, sixteen 2K maps, black shell, rubber controls, metal parts and coloured button lettering — lit by the cubes themselves: green emission with varied facet brightness, soft glow, and matching green rim and bounce light. Rendered in Blender EEVEE at 128 samples with ray tracing and motion blur.
